Word

I used whom in an e-mail at work today. I am very pleased with myself. Also, I didn't end the sentence with a preposition. It was awesome.

iTunes 7.5

So you want to upgrade your p.c. to iTunes 7.5? Have you tried and it doesn't work? The problem is the new Quick Time. Here's what to do:

First: Install iTunes 7.5. Quick Time 7.3 installs automatically. Sucks, I know, but what are you gonna do? When you get the error message, click OK and finish theinstallation.

Second: Go to your control panel and remove Quick Time 7.3 (use add/remove)

Third: Install Quick Time 7.2.

It should work like a champ.

I'm normally not much of a union guy, but I've got to side with the writers on this one. For updates, check out United Hollywood.

In Rainbows: Part 2

If you've been following the saga of the name your own price album sales of Radiohead's new album, I'm sure you've seen the numbers. Only 2 in 5 paid for the album and their average price was $6. This comes out to I think $2.40 per copy. This is about what an artist would make anyway. Only this way all of the money is going to Radiohead (minus some expenses, mind you, but not as much as a label would cost) and there is a feeling of goodwill towards them. Overall, I'd say that the music industry is fairly well screwed for a while. They'll figure it out eventually.

Savannah, GA

I was in Savannah this past weekend for my friends Dave and Carrie Lee's wedding. It was a blast. We left here Friday night at about 8 and got back Monday morning at 5. I think we spent about 30 hours in the van. It was worth it. Savannah is a beautiful city with an open container law. The wedding was on the same block as the museum that houses Bird Girl from the cover of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. She's at the Telfair Museum of Art. If you ever get a chance to go to Savannah, go.

In Rainbows

I finally got In Rainbows. I know it's only been available for 2 days, but i should have had it on Wednesday. I'm about half way through the album and I love it so far. I also love that it is only available as a download from Radiohead's website. Plus you can name your own price. As in if you don't want to pay, you don't have to. I paid 10 bucks. It's 10 songs, so I think it was reasonable. There's a box set coming out in the winter and a full release in the spring, but those of us that downloaded it will have had it for months before anyone else. If you like Radiohead, I really suggest going here and getting it.

Honorable Mention

This is the rest of the list that top 10 came out of. (Or out of which came this list.) They are in no particular order.

Monk, Mash, Top Gear, Erie, Indiana (the 1991-92 series), Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Northern Exposure, Blackadder, Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Twin Peaks, C.S.I. and House.

Also on the list, but maybe a little bit too new to make a call on, are: Pushing Daisies, Psych, Life On Mars, Eureka and Torchwood. Also I Hate My 30's.

Top Ten TV shows

Favorite TV shows of mine. Counting down from number...

10. The Young Riders
Late 80's/Early 90's western. (featuring Stephen Baldwin and Josh Brolin)

9. Highlander: The Series
He lived in a barge on the Seine. How cool is that?

8. Red Dwarf
BBC space comedy? Can't miss.

7. Star Trek: The Next Generation
The first show I followed.

6. My So Called Life
Only one season, but how can you not like it.

5. The Simpsons
Bizarrely the smartest show on TV.

4. Doctor Who
I love the new shows, but love the old ones too. Especially Doctors 4, 9 and 10.

3. X-Files
I know, the show was on too long. The first 6 seasons were awesome.

2. The West Wing
The first 4 seasons were fantastic. 5 ans 6 were a bit weak. 7 brought it back around.

And...

1. Lost
I saw 1/2 of 1 episode during season 2 and decided to buy season 1. Watched that in 2 days. Bought the rest of season 2 on iTunes. Waiting until December for the Season 3 DVD. Have decided to buy an HD set before Season 4 starts in February.

guillotine

Today is the 30 year anniversary of the last time that a guillotine was used for an execution in France. The attending doctor reported that the executee, Hamida Djandoubi, remained responsive for 30 seconds after the seperation from his body. Thankfully France wised up and got rid of the death penalty in 1981.

Not Me

I am not an Anthropology professor at Miami (OH). I am not an associate Fellow in Experimental Neurobiology at the Neuroscience Institute. I was not on the Cosby show and this isn't my family. I am also not a professional basketball player. I was also never a character on Inspector Morse.

I should probably not look myself up on Google.

The Long Weekend

There isn't much to say about the game that hasn't been said. It was kind of a bummer. At least Michigan lost too.

*******

Harry Potter

I finally finished reading Harry Potter this weekend. It was pretty good. It'll be strange to not have any more books coming out. I'm also not sure about how they are going to make this one into a movie. I'm sure they'll figure it out.

*******

Fried Chicken.

Sunday night I hear the door open and Mark, Tara and Larry come strolling up with some KFC. It was freaking good. I hadn't had KFC in years. It was a nice surprise. The conversation turned to fried foods and what tastes best fried. We came up with some good ideas. I'll post the ones that work.

Until then: good night and good luck.

Are you ready for some football?

It is now 75 hours and 26 minutes until kickoff. Things to do between now and then: Yahoo draft. Fox Sports draft. GHS game on Friday. Dishes. Laundry. Karaoke. 3 nights sleep. 9 meals.

Go Irish!

Teeing Off

If any of you aren't watching the Henry Rolling Show really need to start watching. The man is entertaining and insightful. He is also quite possibly the most opinionated man on the planet. I highly recommend checking out his shows website. Checkout the "Teeing Off" transcripts. They are well worth the read. I especially recommend last weeks show.

There is something special about Friday afternoon. You've spent the entire week working and then you get to the end of it. Although it is difficult to get very much done.

Elsewhere

Elsewhere... means in another place, right? Not to me. Last fall there was a great film crew out here shooting a feature called, you guessed it, Elsewhere. I was lucky enough to have been involved a bit. I got to work in the art department, as an extra and as a stand it. Also got to work some with the EPK crew. I managed to be on set for 3/4 of the days and not miss any days of work. I was tired.

"So what does that have to do with now?"

Glad you asked. I happen to get a chance to see a cut of it this week. It was a bit trippy seeing scenes from a year ago.

"Well that seems nice."

It was. Aside from meeting the crew, I got to meet the cast. The best day was when Jon Gries took a picture of me and Tania Raymonde.

"The girl from Lost, right?"

That's the one. The one who plays Alex.

"Well that sounds awesome."

It was.
